A Life of Impact

During the maiden convocation of the ARK FORCE MENTORSHIP program (AFM), a program designed by Peace Ark Ministry to equip and prepare believers for effective service and spiritual upliftment, I stood in front of the beautifully arrayed mentees, reminding them about 'Impact' and 'Legacy'.

Life is so fragile that we shouldn't just labor and get engaged forgetting to leave an impact behind. So many people realize at the end of their life that they were merely exercising their bodies and living just 'life' without any positive impact. Such a life is aimless and not worth living. Humans are wired in a way that our little efforts, contributions, and push result in impacts that improve others. Where we fail to create positive impact, we fail to improve others and even things around us (Romans 8:19). 'For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God.'

Jesus said in John 12:32, 'And I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all people to myself.' That's a statement of impact and acknowledgement, owing to the fact that we are blessed to bless others, saved to save others, lifted to lift others, helped to help others. The list goes on... Until we understand this concept and apply it daily, we won't live a fulfilled and impactful life.

There was a woman in the Bible called Dorcas. According to Acts 9:39, 'Peter went with them, and when he arrived, he was taken upstairs to the room. All the widows stood around him, crying and showing him the robes and other clothing that Dorcas had made while she was still with them.' This woman's life was so impactful that the people around her didn't want her to leave. They struggled, pushed, and took advantage of every opportunity to see her live. According to the Bible, the helpless widows couldn't hold their tears when she passed on because no one would fill such a vacuum in their hearts.

Let me ask you this: the day you exit this earth, what will people say about you? What will be truly and sincerely written on your biography? How many would pray you don't die? How fulfilled would your life be? Will you be proud of yourself? Will there be any sustainable legacy left behind? These questions and more must be answered while we reflect on our lives in humility and sobriety.

Take this to heart: you won't be the one to tell people about your impact; it's the people who will tell you and others about it. Be so impactful that generations after you can't still stop talking about you positively. The praises of your impact should come from, most especially, those who can't pay you back. Impact doesn't happen when you have money; it starts when you discover the importance of life and how humans are wired.

I pray that you will pick up the pieces and begin to live an impactful life today, so you could leave a strong and sustainable legacy behind after your exit from here. Amen.
